School Projects

(drawing of addition to Westover Academy,  Gwathmey/Siegel & Associates Architects. Mr. Egan was a member of the design team)

Christopher Egan has had an interest in school design for many years, believing the observation by Sir Winston Churchill: "First we shape our buildings, and they in turn shape us." His first opportunities to work on school projects were with Gwathmey Siegel & Associates. There he worked on a new athletic facility for Dartmouth University and a science and library wing for the Westover Academy in Connecticut. More recently, through a series of projects for the Jourdanton (Texas) Independent School District, Egan/Martinez design has demonstrated the technical expertise and design ability to provide educational facilities that serve the needs of the students, teachers and community. All are very modest in design, because the voters and school board members of this rural community do not wish to incur debt. Therefore, while they are committed to providing their teachers the facilities they need to give a good education to the children of Jourdanton, every penny must be carefully spent. We look forward to the opportunity to bring more of our design abilities to bear on future educational projects.

For Jourdanton ISD we completed the following projects between 1999 and 2002:
