New Home for the Moseley Family
This house is on a 5-acre site in the hills of northern Bexar County, next door to the Ryerson House. Construction was expected to start in January of 1999, but was indefinitely postponed. The site features spectacular views to the north and northwest, and a deep tree cover closer to the street. The clients are a young family who prefer a single-story home to accommodate grandparents. "This design is shaped by the landscape. The great room and master bedroom are oriented towards the clients' favorite views, while the pool terrace is located to capture afternoon sun. The angled geometry resolves the conflict between northern views and a sunlit terrace, and it also follows the topography of the land. The entry court is built around a large oak tree, while the pool terraces are wrapped around a beautiful little cluster of live oaks we uncovered while surveying. A small upper terrace permits star-gazing at night."
