Office and Warehouse for
This project provides new offices, warehouses, and showroom facilities for a supplier of materials and tools for the construction industry. The client was the stone contractor for the Ryerson House, and was the client for the Leeder Family Greenhouse and Pool/Pavilion, both on their ranch in Boerne, Texas. The site plan was both practical and aesthetic. The new building was designed to permit continuous use of the existing offices until the new building was complete. It also clarifies the flow of materials, workers, and customers. At the same time, the street front location made the new building a visual buffer between the street and the less-attractive workyard within. " This building offers a chance to develop the ideas of materiality I have explored in my research about San Antonio architecture. We are using materials sold by the client, so that the building becomes a sales tool. We are also taking advantage of the southern exposure to develop a design based on the strong shadows produced by the South Texas sun."
