FOOD STYLING & PROPPING
In the world of commercial photography, video and film, nothing can be left to chance, and only those with professional training and experience are entrusted with the work. Ana Martinez has spent most of her professional life involved in commercial photography, primarily in Mexico City. Just as New York is the center for advertising in English-speaking North America, Mexico City is the film, advertising and television capital for all of Spanish-speaking Latin America, from California border to the southern tip of South America. Ana began her career as a graphic designer with the prestigious firm ZIMAT Design Center and was quickly promoted to Director of Photography. Her clients included international companies such as Anderson Clayton, McCormick Spices and Kimberly Clark as well as national companies such as Mexicana Airlines, Pemex Petroleum and the nation's largest industrial groups. Her photo direction included everything from small studio shots, to full-size sets, on-site photography of industrial plants, shots of moving trucks, aerial views of Mexico City from a helicopter, and even an ocean-borne series documenting the Pacific Coast tuna industry. Ana found that she particularly enjoyed working with food, and left the firm to become one of Mexico's first food stylists in 1984. She eventually studied gastronomy and became a certified chef. Photographers like working with Ana on the set while chefs enjoy working with her in the commercial kitchen, and clients appreciate her professionalism and composure under pressure. Whether a project calls for propping, food styling or artistic direction, Ana Martinez is well qualified and ready to be a member of your team. With her background as both designer and chef, Ana has a particular expertise in the devlopment of new recipes which can be used to market food products. While she is most familiar in the foods of Mexico, she has also worked with Chinese, Italian, and French cuisines, and is a professor of International Cuisine.
