New Home for the Cox Family Comal County, Texas (designed in 2001-2002, currently on hold)
This house sits on 5 wooded acres north of San Antonio near the Guadalupe River. The design responds to the client’s desire to have a private family area completely separated from the guest area. Each of these areas is accommodated in a separate wing connected to a common Main Hall. The house is oriented to provide views towards a large old oak tree, and to capture the prevailing Southeast summer breezes. Stylistically the house evokes the hacienda tradition of this area that was once the northern edge of New Spain’s ranching empire.
