ABOUT THE FIRM

Egan/Martinez Design began as the marriage of two businesses, Christopher Egan & Associates Architects of San Antonio (Architecture) and Estudio Ana Martinez of Mexico City (Graphic Design / Food Styling).  Together they offer their clients in the US, Mexico and Central America a wide range of design services.

Architecture & Planning

Christopher Egan has 25 years experience in architecture in Houston, New York, and San Antonio.  Since opening  his own office in 1986 in New York, his firm has provided services in architecture, planning, and interiors for commercial, institutional, and residential clients. Ana Martinez grew up in the studios and on the jobsites of her father, Mexico City architect Manuel Martinez Paez.  In addition, Mr. Egan and Sra. Martinez are both experienced furniture designers with access to shops in both the US and Mexico.

Construction Management

Unlike most architects in the United States, Christopher Egan has always been closely involved with the construction of his projects. His love of construction began in the professional theater where he was the technical director and shop foreman for a United Scenic Artists studio in Houston, and was strengthened as a young architect during Houston's building boom. He learned professional construction management by working closely with some of the leading construction management firms in New York and Houston. He also gained insights by working with his associates in Mexico, where construction is normally provided by the architect. In 1998 Egan/Martinez design began offering Construction Management services at the request of our clients., and as of January 2005 we have completed a wine store, a restaurant, a house addition and have several projects underway, including houses in Dripping Springs, Texas near Austin.

Graphic Design, Signage & Corporate Identity
Ana Martinez has 23 years experience in industrial and graphic design for both small and large businesses in Mexico City and more recently in San Antonio.  This expertise, combined with Mr. Egan's experience in retail and commercial design, enables Egan/Martinez Design to offer business client's a completely integrated public identity, including: offices, stores, signage, stationary, and commercial announcements.

Food Styling
As a professionally trained chef as well as designer, Ana Martinez is recognized as an expert food stylist, a specialty little known outside of major advertising cities.  A food stylist's expertise is knowing how best to present food and food for commercial photography.  Ana's expertise includes 20 years of collaboration with advertisers, graphic designers and commercial photographers.
